About Me

About me

My name is Josh Owens, I am 25 years old. I was born in San Diego and we lived there until I was 5. We moved to Fairfield, Ohio which is near Cincinnati - I have lived here ever since.

I started working with computers at an early age, when my Grandfather introduced me during a visit to see him. I remember our first computer was an Atari 800 with dual 5.25″ floppy drives and a cassette tape drive; we purchased it when I was around 8. The Atari also had BASIC on it, which ended up as my first programming language. Around 1991 we purchased a 486 dx-2 with a 2400-baud modem and a 200mb hard drive. I remember being one of the first kids on the block to get a non-AOL internet connection, which was awesome back then - Mmmm, 2400-baud web surfing! As you can see, my love affair with computers has been a constant for a long time - something that continues even today, I spend around 17-18 hours a day on a computer.

I started work right out of High School, after I graduated early, skipping most of my senior year. After the actual graduation at the end of the school year, I enrolled in Miami University as a part-time student. I only finished about a year of school when I found a job working as an IT contractor at Procter and Gamble. I worked at P&G for around 3 years, when my current opportunity came up. I currently work for the Avon National Customer Service Call Center, in the IT Dept. Every day is different here, always providing some new and exciting opportunities. I do everything from building database driven websites, to creating ghost images, to assisting in the migration of our domain to AD.

I was married for four years to Kelley, but we have recently divorced. We had a son together, my wonderful little Brayden. We always have a good time the 50% of the time that I have him, he is such a great little boy.

My hobbies include playing and writing about WoW, recording a bimonthly podcast, and running Steelpixel, a web hosting business. I also enjoy watching TV sometimes.
