I just got off Skype Out with Chris, and it was very cool. I used my PDA with wireless and the built-in mic to talk to him, and I was impressed (as I think he was, also). It just amazes me how great this technology can be, but why has it taken so long to get big? Didn’t we have services like this before (Dialpad maybe)? Chris and I discussed the explosion of web services and RSS all over the internet, but I guess I still don’t understand why this has taken so long? I mentioned to him that I think the “blog” growth has fueled a lot of the websites and services we are seeing all over the net now. Combine the growth with recent software improvements around web technologies such as; Ajax, RSS feeds and readers, podcasts, tags, camera phones, and cheap bandwidth - I think it becomes clear why things are heating up so quickly. If you aren’t sure about what I mean, take a look @ Flickr, Delicious, Digg, Skype, Wordpress, and Basecamp for just a few examples. I haven’t had a chance to try one new technology out yet, but Orb sounds like some hot stuff! Now if only someone would release that sexy new MDA IV phone (or the HTC Universal), I would be set!

–Peace out

P.S. TROTTS rocks! I can’t wait for episode 2.
