There once was a man who mowed his lawn, and he had a very steep hill. He loved to cut, zip/zoom, and trim. One day he was cutting, just humming along, but the rain had made all of the grass so slick. While mowing the monstrous hill, his foot slipped and all went wrong. The mower came tumbling down, but luckily the big oaf jumped out of the way! The spinning blades of the mower barely missed his head, and somehow his iPod landed on the hill. It was about just then, the neighbor came out asking “Are you ok? Did you hit a rock?” After much laughing and struggling to put the mower together, all ended well.

The moral of the story… wear cleats or wait until the grass is dry!

P.S. Yes, it was me!

Yip, I took the plunge - ads for everyone! I decided to try my hand at Google’s adsense service, as I am curious what kind of scratch can be made off my lowly blog. Chris and I have had several discussions about how to make money with our service, and I really think adsense is the way to go. He disagrees with me and says free should be free. I guess we will see when we roll out our service :P.

I know this is old news, but I am still digging goggle’s new portal service. The ajax interface is just the hotness! If you haven’t yet, go use it and drag the boxes around. Chris and I both agree that ajax is critical to any new web service coming out because it adds so much polish and pizaaz. I may be moving some of my flux blogging over to SteelPixel, as we decided that will be the name of our new corp - I am sure I will announce it here if I move that direction for this stuff. We also hope to have our teaser page up by the end of the week!

Go go power Ajax!

So, all those republicans chuckled at me when I said vote Kerry… I found several articles talking about “free speech zones” today. Let me clue you in, they designate areas where you can stand if you want to protest against the president - they are generally anywhere from 100 yards to 1/3 mile from the route of the president. God forbid we clutter up the view of the president’s drive with the thoughts of people that live in this country. Perhaps I am just paranoid, but this is WAY to 1984 for me. I am not sure why I decided to post this today, it just popped in my mind as another offensive tactic by the government.

Viva la Homeland Security!

I tell you! Owning a house comes with such an endless onslaught of things to do. I cut the lawn this weekend and that was quite an endeavor! I am sure it looked hilarious, me trying to wrestle with the lawn-mower on that hill. In the end, it was probably good to get my pasty white tub-o-lard out there for a few hours to sweat and strain in the hot sun ;). We also went shopping this weekend and spent a ton of money on stuff for the house! I think we both love the house and we wouldn’t trade it for the world - shopping and yard work aside (I think that stuff actually makes it that much more fun in the end).

I may be flying down to visit Chris for a marathon coding weekend around the June 3rd; my wife’s sister is flying in that weekend for our son’s baby shower. Sometimes I get so frustrated when I find an article like today talking about what a great product Trumba is, but after running through it for two day, I was disappointed with it. There is just so much that could be better with it, but I guess that is what we hope to do with the flux project. It just sucks knowing that so many people would probably find our project so useful. Things like a style sheet to print out your to-do list or calendar entries on a 3×5 card for a hipster pda… I just wish we could find funding to do this full time and get things up to speed a LOT faster than we can working on it in our spare time. I guess I just hope people will trust me when I say that our product will be very GTD friendly and it is something that WE want to use (note: We are not affiliated with David Allen, nor do we have any input from him on this project - this is nothing official GTD).

Anyway, I am going back to watching TV!

Yo, yo, yo!

It has been a crazy week or so. We are finally getting down to the nitty-gritty in the move to the new house, all the furniture is in, the network is almost up 100%, and most of the boxes have been unpacked (read: we have 50% of the boxes left).

After much dismay and annoyance, I ended up using a WAP54g from linksys to bridge the downstairs and basement networks together. I tried to use the “Game Adapter” from linksys, but it was total crap and wouldn’t connect to my WRT54g in the basement. Oh, and adelphia sucks! I have had nothing but problems with their HDTV and High speed internet setup since we had it installed on Monday.

Chris
and I are still plugging away on our project, so stay tuned. We hope to unveil the url and a beta mail-list signup next week.

P.S. Go see Episode 3, it rocks imo. I am still stunned about what happens to the little Jedis!
